We wish everyone a wonderful holiday and are delighted to share our upcoming exhibition, Between Threads, opening on September 30.

The exhibition brings together Dutch artist Lily de Bont and Taiwanese artist Lu ChiaHui, whose practices explore fibre and structure through two very different materials: linen and Taiwanese rush.

Lily de Bont deconstructs the woven structure of linen, transforming canvas from a support for painting into the subject itself. Lu ChiaHui begins with the tradition of Taiwanese rush weaving, removing its utilitarian function and allowing the material to develop into line, structure and space.

One takes apart; the other weaves. One reveals the inherent structure of cloth, while the other opens traditional craft towards new forms.

When a material no longer needs to become something “useful,” perhaps we can finally begin to see it for what it is.

Between Threads invites us to look again at the textures, structures and traces of time hidden within materials we encounter every day.
